ABSTRACT
The influence of remote forcing is evaluated by nesting NCOM-based regional and coastal bio-physical models within data-assimilative and non data-assimilative global HYCOM experiments. For comparison, we also nest within the data assimilative Operational Global NCOM. The NCOM regional model is implemented for the California Current System (CCS) domain at 9Km and 4Km resolutions, while the Monterey Bay (MB) coastal model is implemented on an orthogonal curvilinear grid with horizontal resolution as high as 1Km. The regional and coastal simulations include a 9-compartment ecosystem model and are forced with high-resolution COAMPS atmospheric fluxes. A full evaluation of the results will be shown along with comparisons to observations and to the present Operational Global NCOM model.
