Identifying climate change resources will support future examination of the risks to cultural resources within the Canaveral National Seashore and Everglades National Park. These resources will assist park staff and visitors with the interpretation of how, when, and why colonial and pre-colonial human settlements changed in the region. Additionally, the resources will aid the NPS as they develop strategies for adaptation or mitigation of future climate impacts on cultural resources. These strategies include research, documentation, and protection measures for cultural resource sites. The activities of COAPS and SEAC will benefit the public by providing essential data for decision makers who are responsible for ensuring these irreplaceable archeological sites are preserved or fully documented for future generations.
